Directions in Internet Transport Evolution
نویسنده
چکیده
A the Transport Area Open Meeting at IETF 70, area directors Magnus Westerlund and Lars Eggert noted that their queues are empty and that several Transport Area working groups are nearing completion. It may therefore be an opportune time to step back and consider possible directions for new projects in the Transport Area. !is article summarises some of the ideas presented and discussed at that meeting, and it attempts to synthesise those ideas into an outline that describes a number of potentially promising directions for future Transport Area work. Identifying a complete shopping list of issues or work areas was not the goal of the meeting, nor is it the goal of this article. Instead, what follows can be best described as a cross section of possibilities.

Transport protocols: limitations, evolution obstacles and solutions for an actual deployment in the Internet
The Transport layer, designed for old networking contexts and now obsolete applications requirements, is inefficient. This paper discusses the reasons behind this inefficiency and the obstacles to the evolution of Transport protocols. The discussion is then extended to derive new requirements for the Transport layer, both functional and architectural, in order to ensure optimal performances in ...

Extended abstract 1- Introduction Arid and semi-arid regions of the world cover more than 30% of the earthchr('39')s surface. Wind, as one of the erosive agents of the earthchr('39')s surface, causes the transport of sand and deformation in arid areas. Wind erosion is directly related to wind speed. The higher the wind speed is above the threshold value, the more increase in wind speed. This ...
متن کاملThe Quantum Statistical Mechanical Theory of Transport Processes
A new derivation of the quantum Boltzmann transport equation for the Fermion system from the quantum time evolution equation for the wigner distribution function is presented. The method exhibits the origin of the time - irreversibility of the Boltzmann equation. In the present work, the spin dependent and indistinguishibility of particles are also considered.
متن کاملEnhancing Wireless Internet Links
We describe a novel link layer architecture to enhance the performance of Internet protocols over wireless links. The degraded performance of these links on the Internet and the inadequacy of existing approaches of overcoming these problems in a protocol independent manner, motivate our solution. Our link layer provides multiple services and performance feedback to higher layers, thus supportin...
